Did you know that by 2050, the number of people with early ARMD (Age Related Macular Degeneration) will double in the USA to more than 17.8 million??!!
That number is astounding.
According to an article on MedicalNewToday.com, a new study from Australia suggests that eating a lot of red meat is linked to a higher risk of developing ARMD. In the study, published in the April 2009 issue of the American Journal of Epidemiology, researchers found that people who ate chicken at least 3 times a week were 50% less likely to develop ARMD. In contrast, eating red meat 10 times a week gave a person a 47% higher risk of developing ARMD than if the red meat was comsumed less than 5 times a week.
I myself, try to stay away from red meat except for the occasional new restaurant or to try something new when traveling.
I do find this an interesting study as choices for longevity can be made daily. It is your choice.
